Keegan has had an interest in art ever since he could hold a pencil. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with an emphasis in painting. At the university, he began to critically examine his interest in fiction, and started to explore the idea of visual storytelling.
Keegan wanted to make work that was quirky and playful, so he began a series of paintings, inspired by real people acting out their fantasies. This work set the foundation for his artistic goals of bridging fantasy and reality in painting. Since college, he has been doing freelance work and gallery shows. His primary mediums are oil paint, watercolor, and digital painting.
After college, he set up his own studio in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was there that he decided to host figure drawing sessions for the local community. He loved the experience of helping others understand anatomy from the perspective of the artist, and getting them excited about drawing.
Keegan is excited to be a part of the 402 Arts Collective, because he feels that the organization is a place that matches his values.
