Joye began playing cello when she was 5 years old and her family lived in Sioux City, IA. After that time, her family relocated to Independence, MO where she studied cello, piano and voice at the Music/ Arts Institute for 8 years. She also studied under the cello professor at UMKC Conservatory, Carter Enyeart. She took on her first cello student at the age of 10. She continued teaching through junior high and high school. Her family then relocated to Grand Rapids, MI where she studied with the cello professor at the University of Michigan, Anthony Elliott. Following high school, she went on to major in cello performance, attending Western Michigan University and University of Nebraska- Omaha.
Throughout her musical career, Joye has had the opportunity to perform in large and small ensembles of both the classical and contemporary genre. She has competed in national chamber music competitions, played masterclasses for renowned cellists including
Yo-Yo Ma, served as the principal cellist in various orchestras and recorded for different local and national bands. She enjoys playing weddings, musicals and with her band, Midwest Dilemma.
